The holidays are an incredible time of the year, but if you’re not cautious, you can do major harm to your teeth. By taking precautions to not open things with your mouth, to consume sweets at the proper moments and to do what you can to brush thoroughly, you can defend your teeth this year. Here are a few bits of additional information to help you maintain your dental health this season:
Don’t open gifts with your teeth! Though it might be tempting to open presents and foods as soon as possible, don’t do it with your teeth: teeth can fissure, chip or break when you use them to open items. Instead, use scissors and the right tools for the job.
Try eating sweets only around meal times. Because your mouth naturally produces spit around meal times, deliberate on eating any sweets you’ll have around meal times. The surplus spit in your oral cavity will help to clean away cavity-instigating acids.
Finally, make sure you’re brushing for long enough by humming a holiday tune in your head. By mentally singing through a song, you’ll be sure to brush your teeth for the full two minutes that we suggest.
